Job summary

Carle Health is seeking a Registered Nurse First Assist (RNFA) to support surgeons during perioperative care. The RNFA will perform independent perioperative assessment and postoperative evaluation, working inter‑departmentally with surgeons rather than as a circulating nurse or surgical technologist.

The role requires an RN license with CNOR, BLS within 30 days, a nursing diploma, and completion of an RNFA program, plus at least 2 years of perioperative nursing experience.

Qualifications

• Licensed RN in good standing (IDFPR) and CNOR certification.
• BLS certification within 30 days of hire.
• Nursing college diploma and completion of an accredited RNFA program.

Responsibilities

• Assist surgeon in general and specialized surgeries with proper trays, instrumentation, and setup.
• Provide direct patient care and support during perioperative period.
• Administer medications as ordered and monitor patient status.
