Job summary

Carle Health is seeking an RN First Assist to support surgeons in general and specialized procedures, ensuring safe operations and optimal patient outcomes. The role requires independent perioperative nursing assessment and post-operative follow-up within the OR team.

Responsibilities include assisting with exposure, hemostasis, draping, medication administration, patient positioning, and intra-operative collaboration with the surgical team.

Qualifications

• Active RN license in good standing with CNOR and BLS credentials.
• Completion of accredited RNFA program.
• Minimum 2 years perioperative nursing experience.

Responsibilities

• Assist surgeon in general and specialized surgeries.
• Ensure trays, instrumentation, and supplies are ready for each procedure.
• Administer medications.
• Scrub and circulate as needed.
• Position patient and monitor vital signs.
• Educate patient and family on operation and aftercare.
• Perform post-operative assessments and monitor recovery.
• Study patient history and health assessments.
