Job summary

United Surgical Partners International, Inc is seeking a dedicated Pre/Post Op Registered Nurse to join the Northern Michigan Surgical Suites team in Boyne City, Michigan.

This full-time role provides perioperative care before and after procedures, ensures patient safety, documents care, and collaborates with surgeons, anesthesiologists and staff to deliver high-quality ambulatory surgery in a patient-centered setting.

Qualifications

• Must be a Registered Nurse with an unrestricted license in the state.
• Must be a graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
• Must have at least 2-5 years of experience in PreOp/PACU or Critical Care.
• Previous experience in an ambulatory surgical center strongly preferred.
• Must have current BLS, ALS and PALS.
• Must possess a strong knowledge of surgical procedures and management of the surgical patient.
• Understanding of aseptic techniques and their implementation.
• Ability to quickly adapt to changing condition of the patient when needed.
• Must be an excellent team player and have the ability to communicate with staff, patients and physicians.

Responsibilities

• Manage patients' admission processes to preoperative department.
• Assess the health status in pre-op and ensure accurate identification wristband.
• Ensure operative and informed consents are in order.
• Determine the surgeon and procedure being carried out.
• Take and record vital statistics to ensure readiness for surgical procedure.
• Initiate IVs and inform patients about procedures and attending staff.
• Assess patients' condition after surgery and maintain vitals within normal range.
• Log findings in patient files and educate patients and families.
