Job summary

Munson Healthcare in northern Michigan is seeking an experienced registered nurse for peri-operative care. You will assess patient status across preop, OR, and recovery, deliver safe, nurse-led care, and coordinate interventions to support timely discharge.

You will document nursing care, communicate with surgeons and anesthesia, and educate patients and families. A valid Michigan RN license and ADN are required; perioperative experience preferred.

Qualifications

• Currently licensed as a Registered Nurse in Michigan.
• ADN or equivalent required.
• Preferred: experience in the perioperative area.

Responsibilities

• Assess patient status on admission to the preop area, operating room, and post-op area, and on a continuing basis.
• Provide safe, therapeutic quality care to patients by utilizing the nursing process and nursing diagnosis in a timely manner.
• Coordinate nursing interventions to enhance achievement of expected outcomes and ensure readiness for discharge.
• Document interventions and patient responses.
• Ensure provision of patient care in an organized and timely manner.
• Utilize nursing care standards when planning and implementing patient care.
• Communicate appropriate information regarding patient conditions to surgeons, anesthesia, management, and other staff.
• Safely carry out physician’s orders correctly and promptly, documenting all activities.
• Initiate and participate in patient and family education.
• Assess learning needs according to the patient’s level of understanding and readiness to learn.
