Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited nursing program (ADN/BSN).
• 1–2 years perioperative nursing experience.
• Current, unrestricted RN license in the state where the Center is located; multi-state compact accepted where applicable.
• Current BLS (CPR) certification.
• Working knowledge of aseptic technique, surgical instrumentation, and AORN guidelines.
• Proficiency with electronic medical records.

Responsibilities

• Review patient records before the case, verify consent, history, allergies, implants; resolve discrepancies.
• Prepare the OR with instruments, supplies, equipment, and implants per surgeon's preference card; confirm sterility indicators.
• Assess patient on arrival and communicate findings to the surgical team.
• Lead the surgical safety checklist, time-out, and sign-out; halt for unresolved issues.
• Position, prep, and protect the patient; maintain sterile technique.
• Document intraoperative care in EMR and provide handoff to PACU.
• Direct OR staff and participate in quality improvement and training.
• Respond to intraoperative emergencies per Center protocol.
