Atlantic Health in Summit, NJ seeks a Nursing Manager to ensure the delivery of high-quality nursing care and specialty services. The role maintains compliance with established standards and leads unit staff while supporting budget development and maintenance.

The incumbent acts as a clinical resource, promotes staff development, oversees quality initiatives, and collaborates with other departments to optimize patient outcomes.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate daily staffing schedule.
• Consult in patient care situations requiring advanced competency and knowledge.
• Serve as a clinical resource for problem solving and assist staff with patient related issues and emergency situations.
• Act as liaison to other departments and multiple patient care services.
• Serve as a role model to develop staff competence.
• Assist in cost management, including product evaluation, prevention of waste and damage, room utilization, control of overtime, and appropriate staffing mix.
• Facilitate unit-based QE program/projects.
• Investigate and follow up on incident reports and patient complaints.
• Evaluate and update the quality and appropriate use of department and unit tools.
• Act as a manager in absence of the manager.
• Assist with interviews, hiring, coaching, counseling, and corrective action, including documentation of same.
• Assist with annual performance appraisals.
• Assist with budget process.
• Assist staff in implementing clinical pathways and outcomes management.
• Assist in unit problem solving.
• Schedule staff meetings as needed.
• Promote positive group dynamics as leader and member.
• Maintain communication with patients, families, staff, physicians, and other departments.
