Responsibilities

• Demonstrates and role models professional behavior with all staff and provider interactions.
• Serves as change agent and role model for change to assist staff in accepting and embracing the necessary change.
• Completes annual performance appraisals as assigned including feedback process, plan for professional development and employee self-appraisal.
• Attends meetings at the direction of the nurse manager.
• Promotes unit-based shared governance including ongoing support through consultation and assistance in eliminating barriers in partnership with the nurse manager.
• Promotes professional development plan and conducts check-ins with educators and staff.
• Promotes and encourages nursing specialty certification in partnership with the nurse manager.
• Promotes a positive working environment and encourages employee engagement through team member / leadership rounding.
• Facilitates the interviewing and on-boarding of new hires, hire learners and peri-op fellows.
• Identifies, plans, and implements activities to ensure patient care is delivered in accordance with professional standards and policy, and meets patient safety goals.
• Monitors departmental performance in evidence-based practices, quality, and patient safety goals.
• Creates goals and action plans for unmet targets in collaboration with NM.
• Participates in regulatory readiness.
• Participates in performance improvement initiatives and through-put projects.
• Works with patients, families, peers, and departments to meet patient experience goals.
• Investigates and provides feedback for identified patient or departmental concerns.
• Collaborates with nurse manager to develop departmental plans to address improvement needs.
• Assesses initiatives with the nurse manager and adjusts plans to meet organizational and patient experience metrics.
• Ensures effective implementation of financial plans in partnership with nurse manager.
• Demonstrates fiscal stewardship of staff, facilities, equipment, and other resources while maintaining patient care standards.
• Initiates & finalizes API staff self-schedule to meet departmental staffing needs.
• Assists with departmental payroll.
• Collaborates with nurse manager on premium hour criteria and usage, including approvals and documentation.
• Expense control/revenue enhancement- budget involvement.
