Job summary
Howard University Hospital invites an experienced Nurse Educator, Perioperative Services to lead education and staff development across OR, PACU, Pre-Admit, Endoscopy and Central Sterile Processing. You’ll plan, implement, and evaluate programs to build clinical competency and support preceptors, maintaining an active presence in ORs to identify learning needs.
The role demands expertise in perioperative nursing with curriculum design using ANCC guidelines, and strong collaboration with nursing
Qualifications
- Requires BSN and master's in nursing or related field.
- D.C. RN license and BLS certification required.
- Experience as perioperative educator or instructor preferred.
- Ability to design and evaluate educational activities for perioperative staff.
Responsibilities
- Develop educational programs to gain and maintain knowledge and skills.
- Coordinate orientation for newly hired and transferring staff.
- Be present in OR to monitor practice and identify learning needs.
- Educate perioperative staff on new protocols, in-services, and EMR systems.
- Ensure activities meet standards, regulations, and institutional policies.
- Act as clinical expert in perioperative care and collaborate with leadership.
- Support compliance training and HIPAA privacy requirements.
