Howard University Hospital in Washington, DC seeks a Nurse Educator for Perioperative Services to lead education across the OR, PACU, Pre-Admit, Endoscopy and Central Sterile Processing. You will design and implement programs to build competency, coach preceptors, and maintain an active OR presence to identify learning needs, ensuring alignment with standards and institutional goals.

Qualifications

Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) and a Master’s degree in Nursing or related field.
Five (5) years of perioperative nursing experience, including a minimum of two (2) years as a clinical educator or nursing instructor.
Current, unrestricted RN license in the District of Columbia.
Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
Knowledge of perioperative nursing practice and education to identify learning needs.
Program development and management skills for educational activities.

Responsibilities

Develop and lead education across OR, PACU, Pre-Admit, Endoscopy and Central Sterile Processing.
Design and implement the Perioperative Nursing Program for new and transferring staff; support preceptors.
Maintain active presence in operating rooms to monitor practice and identify learning needs.
Educate staff on new protocols, in-services, and EMR training.
Ensure activities align with professional standards and regulatory requirements.
Serve as a clinical expert interfacing with nursing leadership and staff.
