Job summary

Penn Medicine is seeking an experienced RN Education Specialist to deliver staff education for perianesthesia staff in PACU and Ambulatory Care units. You will participate in onboarding, ongoing continuing education, and annual competency assessments, while mentoring nursing staff and supporting hospital projects and committees.

The role requires RN licensure in PA, ASPAN certification within 2 years of hire, CPR, and a BSN with 5+ years of perianesthesia experience.

Qualifications

BSN and 5+ years Perianesthesia specialty clinical experience required.
1+ year experience researching online and creating presentations using Microsoft products.
MSN or Healthcare-related master's encouraged to pursue within 2 years (preferred).

Responsibilities

Assesses educational needs of employees in assigned areas via observation, feedback, and communication with leadership.
Develops new programs/courses and updates existing ones.
Plans programs aligned with organizational goals and students' needs.
Creates original education materials that protect confidentiality and are cost-effective.
Provides continuing education, in-services, and competency assessments as needed.
Delivers timely education in classroom or clinical settings based on unit needs.
Selects appropriate speakers for programs and provides coordination and support.
Attains contact hours or equivalent certification for RN programs as appropriate.
