Job summary

Yale New Haven Health Services Corp. seeks a Perioperative Specialty Coordinator to organize patient care activities and serve as the primary clinical resource to the OR team in designated specialties, delivering quality nursing care.

The PSC collaborates with physicians and staff to coordinate perioperative services, lead a team, ensure patient safety, and support accreditation and regulatory readiness.

Qualifications

• Graduation from an accredited School of Nursing. BSN required, or attained within 2 years of start date.
• Minimum 2 years perioperative OR experience with a minimum of 1 year experience in designated surgical specialty field.
• Current CT state RN licensure and/or eligibility for CT state RN licensure required. Specialty certification preferred.
• Demonstrates strong interpersonal communication skills, maintains a high level of customer service, prioritizes needs of department and surgical specialty, and organizes operational efficiencies.

Responsibilities

• Serves as the primary surgeon interface for the designated surgical specialty(s).
• Plans staff and physician education for new equipment and supplies.
• Actively solicits surgeon and staff input for service line enhancement.
• Provides direct care 50% of the time.
• Participates in collaboration with OR Management the coordination of the overall planning, organization, direction and evaluation of designated surgical specialty(s).
• Demonstrates the ability to respond to multiple demands at once and prioritize and delegate appropriate tasks to all OR team members to facilitate the efficient and safe movement of patients through the OR.
