Formación

• Graduate of an accredited school of nursing; BSN Preferred.
• Previous Peri-Operative course curriculum and/or minimum 1 year of recent OR experience preferred.
• A Registered Nurse licensed in the State of Connecticut.
• Certification in Peri-Operative Nursing preferred (CNOR). BLS required.

Responsabilidades

• Assesses the patient’s physical and psychosocial condition on an ongoing basis throughout the continuum of care.
• Develops, communicates and documents a plan of care reflecting individualized patient problems and interventions with patient, family and healthcare team.
• Implements and coordinates this plan of care in collaboration with the healthcare team.
• Evaluates the plan of care, patient response to care, and readiness for discharge; revises the plan as needed.
• Plans for education after assessing learning needs and readiness of the patient and family; documents outcomes.
• Functions as a preceptor to new staff.
• Functions as a charge nurse.
• Meets performance expectations for Customer Service, Teamwork, Resource Utilization, and Staff and Self Development.
• Performs other duties as assigned or directed to ensure smooth operation of the department/unit.
• Explains procedure/environment to patient as appropriate, as consistent with their level of comprehension.
• Implements actions to prevent patient injury from: positioning, hazards, medications, etc. across age groups.
• Prepares and organizes materials recognizing special needs of patient, procedure and/or surgeon.
• Checks and maintains specialty equipment and supplies as assigned.
• Safely operates all equipment per manufacturer specifications and ensures readiness.
• Implements case breakdown procedure ensuring minimal downtime between cases.
• Provides complete and accurate OR records.
• Communicates patient status and care needs to appropriate team members.
• Performs individualized nursing assessment and re-assesses throughout surgical case.
• Adheres to OR dress code.
