Job summary

SSM Health Saint Louis University Hospital is seeking a Regular, full-time perioperative nurse to lead patient care in the OR. The role emphasizes comprehensive preoperative assessment, planning and execution of individualized nursing interventions for complex cardiovascular and thoracic cases.

Ideal candidates will have at least one year of advanced surgical experience, hold a Missouri RN license and current BLS certification, and be prepared to coordinate the surgical team to ensure optimal

Qualifications

• Graduate of accredited school of nursing.
• One year advanced surgical experience.
• Current RN license in Missouri.
• BLS Healthcare Provider (AHA) certification.

Responsibilities

• Provides perioperative nursing care by performing comprehensive preoperative assessments and planning individualized interventions.
• Coordinates care and delegates tasks among the surgical team to optimize patient outcomes.
• Manages patient care assignments considering staff competencies, equipment, and safety factors.
• Communicates with patients, staff, and physicians to address concerns related to patient care processes.
• Maintains current knowledge of cardiovascular and thoracic nursing techniques and mentors junior staff.
