Job summary

The Registered Nurse (RN) in this role is a specialized perioperative nurse, responsible for providing expert care before, during, and after surgical procedures and coordinating all OR activities, including personnel, equipment, supplies, and the surgical environment.

The RN Circulator ensures effective communication among the surgical team in sterile attire, serves as a patient advocate and role model, and may monitor patients during local procedures and recovery.

Qualifications

• Current Maine RN license.
• BLS certification current.
• ACLS and PALS within 1 year of hire.
• Willingness to work nights, weekends, and holidays as needed.

Responsibilities

• Interprets clinical and diagnostic data, reports abnormalities to MD/Anesthesia/OR staff.
• Verifies chart completeness and assesses patient needs.
• Initiates nursing care for procedures and coordinates supplies and equipment.
• Documents sponge/needle counts, IV fluids, medications, blood loss, and implants.
• Performs other duties as assigned or delegated.
• Complies with laws and regulations.
