Job summary

UC San Diego Health is seeking Perinatal Float Pool RNs to support Hillcrest LDRP, Jacobs Medical Center Labor & Delivery, and Postpartum units. Float roles require assignment prior to shifts and coverage based on census, acuity, and staffing needs.

Nurses may engage in high-risk L&D, triage, antepartum, couplet care, OR, and PACU as assigned. ADMITS practice autonomously per ANA standards, with strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills to manage complex patient care in a dynamic,

Qualifications

• Graduate from an accredited school of Nursing.
• Active California RN license.
• BLS/CPR certification at time of hire with commitment to get ART within six months.
• NRP certification from the American Academy of Pediatrics.
• Certificate of course completion of fetal monitoring.
• Minimum two years of recent Labor and Delivery RN experience in a high-delivery-volume hospital and/or two years of recent Postpartum or LDRP RN experience.
• Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills to manage multiple levels of information and responsibilities.

Responsibilities

• Provide family-centered care across perinatal units, floating to Hillcrest and La Jolla Labor & Delivery and Postpartum.
• Float nurses receive unit assignments prior to each shift and provide coverage based on census, acuity, and staffing needs.
• Responsibilities may include high-risk L&D, triage, antepartum care, couplet care, OR, and PACU depending on the assigned unit.
• Practice autonomously within ANA Standards of Practice and Professional Performance; exercise independent judgment within interdisciplinary approaches.
