Job summary

CVS Health is seeking a Software Development Engineer to join our IT team, focusing on performance testing to improve the scalability and reliability of applications. The role collaborates with development, quality engineering, and operations to embed testing across the SDLC.

The ideal candidate has 4+ years in engineering with performance testing, experience with LoadRunner/JMeter, cloud platforms, containers, programming, and observability tools. Healthcare IT familiarity is a plus.

Qualifications

4+ years of engineering experience, including performance testing or performance engineering.
3+ years of experience with performance testing tools such as LoadRunner, JMeter, Gatling, or similar.
2+ years of experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, etc.) and container technologies such as Docker or Kubernetes.
2+ years of experience with programming or scripting languages such as Java, Python, JavaScript, or similar.
Experience using monitoring and observability tools such as AppDynamics, Dynatrace, New Relic, Grafana, or similar.
Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices.
Understanding of application architecture, databases, APIs, and network fundamentals.
Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.

Responsibilities

Support the adoption and evolution of performance engineering practices across applications and teams.
Design, develop, and execute performance tests to identify bottlenecks and performance risks.
Collaborate with development, QA, and operations teams to incorporate performance testing and analysis throughout the software development lifecycle (SDLC).
Analyze test results and provide recommendations to improve application scalability, stability, and performance.
Develop and maintain performance testing scripts using industry-standard tools.
Monitor application performance and assist in identifying and resolving performance issues.
Support capacity planning, performance tuning, and root cause analysis activities.
Contribute to the documentation of performance testing processes, standards, and best practices.
Stay current with performance engineering trends, tools, and technologies.
