Job summary

Vonage is seeking a senior Performance Engineer to lead and scale our performance testing across high-availability cloud platforms. You will guide SDETs, design scalable frameworks, and drive performance improvements for APIs, databases, and infrastructure.

You will implement realistic traffic replay, chaos testing, and observability-driven optimization within CI/CD pipelines, leveraging AWS services and modern data messaging systems to ensure low latency and resilient services.

Qualifications

Proven track record leading QA/SDET efforts across large distributed teams.
Hands-on AWS cloud services experience with scalability focus.
Expertise in performance testing tools (k6, JMeter or Gatling).
Experience with production traffic shadowing/replay tools like GoReplay.
Strong background in distributed systems, messaging queues, and high-throughput APIs.
Backend programming/scripting in Python, Java, or TypeScript.

Responsibilities

Define and lead performance engineering strategy for high-availability platforms.
Coordinate SDETs across feature teams to build and run performance scripts.
Design and evolve scalable performance frameworks for APIs, databases, and infra.
Implement traffic replay strategies and realistic load profiles.
Own load, stress, endurance, and resilience testing including chaos engineering.
Validate event-driven systems like Kafka and RabbitMQ under production-like conditions.
Integrate performance testing into CI/CD pipelines and shift-left practices.
Leverage observability tools to monitor, diagnose, and optimize performance.
