Job summary

Vonage is seeking a senior Performance Engineering lead to drive scalable, high-availability testing across cloud-native platforms. You will mentor SDETs, design performance frameworks in k6/Python/Java/TypeScript, and shape chaos testing strategies with AWS tooling.

You will collaborate with architecture and data teams to optimize databases and APIs, integrate testing into CI/CD, and ensure observability across live systems for continuous improvement.

Qualifications

• Hands-on backend performance engineering leadership.
• Experience in AWS-based cloud-native systems with scale.
• Ability to design large-scale performance test strategies and lead QA/SDET teams.
• Knowledge of API performance testing and non-functional validation.
• Familiarity with observability, monitoring, and log analysis tools.

Responsibilities

• Define and lead the performance engineering strategy across high-availability platforms.
• Lead, train, and coordinate SDETs across feature teams for performance scripts.
• Design and evolve scalable performance frameworks using k6, Python, Java, or TypeScript.
• Implement and manage production traffic replay strategies and data generation.
• Own load, stress, endurance, and chaos testing including AWS Fault Injection Simulator.
• Validate real-time systems and event-driven architectures under production-like loads.
• Integrate performance testing into CI/CD pipelines with automated checks.
• Utilize observability tooling to monitor performance and troubleshoot issues.
• Establish performance benchmarks, SLAs, and SLOs; manage budgets.
• Collaborate with architecture and data teams to identify bottlenecks.
