Job summary

The American College of Physicians (ACP) is seeking an experienced Associate, Performance Measurement in its Clinical Policy department in Philadelphia. The role leads reviews of performance measures, supports committee activities, and develops policy papers on measurement and quality initiatives.

The ideal candidate has a PhD with 2+ years in performance measurement or a Master’s/clinical degree with 5+ years, strong writing skills, and familiarity with health IT and EHR systems.

Qualifications

  • PhD with a minimum of 2 years’ experience in performance measurement, or a Master’s or clinical degree (RN, NP, or PA) with a minimum of 5 years’ experience.
  • Experience with development and evaluation of performance measures and other quality initiatives.
  • Excellent writing skills, with a record of published articles in peer‑reviewed journals.
  • Understanding of health information technology, particularly electronic health record systems, is strongly preferred.
  • Experience in facilitating committee or large work group meetings.
  • Demonstrated project and committee management experience.

Responsibilities

  • Reviewing, evaluating, and critiquing performance measures that are developed by external organizations, based on ACP’s defined criteria.
  • Providing staff support to the Performance Measure Committee (PMC) in carrying out its charge to promote scientifically sound performance measures and measurement strategies.
  • Keeping current on key performance measurement activity and updating the clinical policy leadership and PMC as needed.
  • Drafting papers on performance measurement, gathering comments and making revisions, and preparing papers for submission for publication in peer‑reviewed journals.
  • Maintaining frequent communication with Clinical Policy division staff, ensuring coordination of activities and identifying opportunities for collaboration.
