Job summary

Vonage is seeking a leader in backend performance engineering to define strategy and mentor a distributed SDET guild. You will build scalable frameworks across APIs, databases, and infrastructure, and drive performance testing within CI/CD and production replay workflows.

Responsibilities span designing benchmarks and SLAs, collaborating with architects and data teams, and ensuring high availability and low latency in modern microservices environments.

Qualifications

• Hands-on backend performance engineering and automation with Python, Java, or TypeScript.
• Proven track record in performance, scalability, and resilience testing in AWS-based systems.
• Experience designing large-scale performance test strategies and leading QA/SDET teams.
• Deep knowledge of API performance testing, integration testing, and system-level non-functional validation.
• Strong understanding of distributed systems, event-driven architectures, and non-functional testing methods.
• Familiarity with observability, monitoring, and log-analysis tools and CI/CD pipelines.

Responsibilities

• Define and lead the performance engineering strategy across cloud-native platforms.
• Lead, train, and coordinate a distributed guild of SDETs across feature teams.
• Design, develop, and evolve scalable performance frameworks and tooling.
• Implement and manage production traffic replay strategies and data generation.
• Own and drive performance tests across load, stress, endurance, and chaos testing.
• Collaborate with architecture and data teams to identify bottlenecks and validate DB architectures.
• Integrate performance testing into CI/CD pipelines and enable automated PR blocking for latency issues.
• Leverage observability tooling to monitor, analyze, and troubleshoot performance issues.
