Job summary

Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center (DHMC) is seeking a Sonographer to join a collaborative imaging team. You will perform advanced ultrasound exams across obstetrics, gynecology, infertility, and general ultrasound on GE and Philips systems, with a focus on high-risk obstetrics and specialty imaging.

The role emphasizes professional development, hands-on teaching of students and residents, and maintaining high-quality diagnostic standards in a supportive, patient-centered environment.

Qualifications

• Graduate of accredited Diagnostic Medical Sonography program (registry eligible).
• RDMS certification required within 6 months; Abdomen specialty required within 1 year.

Responsibilities

• Select equipment and imaging modalities to facilitate optimal diagnostic studies.
• Operate ultrasonography equipment to perform examinations and ensure scan quality.
• Prepare preliminary reports using the department system and record measurements.
• Communicate ultrasound findings to the physician for interpretation and discuss unusual scans with radiologist.
• Maintain ultrasound equipment and quality control procedures; supervise students and residents as needed.

Education

Diagnostic Medical Sonography program (accredited)

Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer (RDMS) certification

RDMS - Abdomen or RDMS-OBGYN

Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
