Job summary

Shields Health in Massachusetts seeks a Per Diem Surgical Technologist to support the OR. You will prepare the room, assemble instruments, and assist the surgeon during procedures while maintaining a sterile field and ensuring patient safety.

The role requires CST certification within 1 year, 1 year of experience, and a strong team mindset. Per diem hours are typically Monday through Friday with daytime shifts and free parking offered.

Qualifications

• Completion of an accredited surgical technician program or equivalent.
• CST certification within 1 year of program completion.
• Minimum of one year work experience as a surgical technician.
• Experience in Ambulatory Surgery or Outpatient Surgery preferred.
• Experience scrubbing in orthopedic, plastics, general, and urology cases preferred.
• Experience in Sterile Processing Department is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Promote a positive organizational culture and best patient care.
• Active engagement in staff meetings, department meetings, in-services, and education.
• Check case carts and prepare instruments for procedures to ensure timely starts.
• Anticipate surgeon needs and request equipment as needed during cases.
• Maintain sterile technique and safe handling of instruments and supplies.
• Prepare and hand off specimens accurately to circulating staff.
