Job summary

Prime Healthcare is seeking an RN House Supervisor for Providence Medical Center in Kansas City, KS. This per diem, 12-hour shift role serves as the hospital leadership representative when management is off-site, ensuring safe staffing, patient care, and crisis response.

Responsibilities include supervising patient flow, bed availability, admissions/discharges/transfers, and interdepartmental coordination with ED/ICU.

Qualifications

• Current and valid RN license.
• Current BLS certification on hire and maintained.
• ACLS certification within 30 days of hire and maintained.
• One year of supervisor experience preferred.
• Minimum three years acute care nursing experience.
• BSN preferred.

Responsibilities

• May intervene in emergencies (codes, Rapid Response, behavioral escalations).
• Monitor patient flow; supervise bed availability; coordinate admissions, discharges, transfers.
• Collaborate with ED, ICU, med-surg, and ancillary departments to avoid bottlenecks.
• Manage staffing based on census and acuity; allocate float pool, per diem, or agency support.
• Prepare shift reports; document incidents and safety concerns.
• Oversee operations during shifts; ensure quality care and staff coordination.
• Support staff; assist with urgent procedures and orientation; promote positive patient experience.
