Job summary

NYU Grossman School of Medicine is seeking a Per Diem Certified Pulmonary Function Technologist (FGP) to join the Manhattan float pool. The role involves performing pulmonary function testing with supervision as needed and supporting a team delivering clinical testing services.

Responsibilities include quality testing, CPET, equipment maintenance, scheduling, and coordination with Pharmacy for methacholine challenges.

Qualifications

• Associate's Degree or equivalent in respiratory care recognized by the New York State Board for Respiratory Therapy (required).
• New York State Registered Respiratory Therapist license or Respiratory Therapist Technician license, certification by the National Board for Respiratory Care (CRT), with CPFT specialty credential within a year of hire (required).
• Computer competency, including basic understanding of Windows-based pulmonary function software.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Performs Pulmonary Function Testing, including FVL, FVC, Lung Volumes, DLCO, and MVV as required; verifies physician orders for testing procedures.
• Performs Cardiopulmonary Exercise Testing.
• Maintains testing equipment and prepares paperwork to permit interpretation of Pulmonary Function tests.
• Performs Methacholine Challenges; efficiently schedules patients and coordinates with Pharmacy to ensure optimal use of Provocholine.
