Job summary

NewYork-Presbyterian Lower Manhattan Hospital is seeking a Pulmonary Function Technologist for per diem day shifts in the PFT Laboratory. The role involves preparing equipment, performing pulmonary function tests, and evaluating data in a high-standard clinical setting.

Requirements include an Associate’s Degree in Respiratory Therapy, NY licensure, BCLS, and at least 1 year of spirometry and related testing experience. Per diem, Mon-Fri 8:00 AM–4:00 PM; on-site obligation with no weekends.

Qualifications

• Active NY Respiratory Therapist license required.
• 1 year experience in spirometry, lung volumes, diffusion capacity testing, six minute walk testing, arterial blood sampling and analysis.
• Associate’s Degree in Respiratory Therapy.
• BCLS certification.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and verify laboratory equipment for pulmonary function testing.
• Collect and evaluate clinical data; perform quality control analyses.
• Conduct tests including spirometry, lung volumes, diffusion capacity and arterial blood sampling.
• Maintain lab standards and ensure on-site presence per schedule.

Education

Associate’s Degree in Respiratory Therapy

Basic Cardiac Life Support certification

Licensed as a Respiratory Therapist by The University of the State of New York, Education Dept

Bring your passion and professionalism to the Lower Manhattan Hospital Pulmonary Function Testing Laboratory where we offer the latest technologies and equipment. Our team performs a variety of pulmonary function tests including, spirometry, lung volumes, diffusion capacity, airway resistance, thoracic gas volume, respiratory muscle strength, and arterial puncture testing. Ensure equipment is prepared for use by selecting, assembling, and verifying functionality and cleanliness. Collect and evaluate clinical data, while performing and evaluating quality control data. Hold our practices to the highest standards. This is a per diem position, Monday-Friday from 8:00AM -4:00PM. No Weekends or holidays in the The PFT lab . Cross training opportunities too. It is in the Lower Manhattan Hospital Wellness Center on 170 William Street.
