Job summary

AMSURG's Ambulatory Endoscopy Center of Maryland in Laurel, MD, seeks a Per Diem Registered Nurse for Pre-op duties for colonoscopy, sigmoidoscopy, and endoscopy procedures. Responsibilities include patient preparation, consent verification, pre-medication, IV placement, and monitoring prior to anesthesia.

The ideal candidate will have an RN license (MD), BLS/ACLS, and strong IV and EMR skills, with preferred experience in ambulatory surgery centers.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited or state board of nursing approved Registered/Professional Nursing program if less than a year of experience.
• Preferred: Bachelor’s degree in nursing.
• MD State licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN) Required.
• Required BLS/ACLS.
• Good IV skills needed.
• Ambulatory surgery center: 1 year (Preferred)
• Demonstrates basic computer skills (for an EMR).

Responsibilities

• Pre-op duties: prepare patient physically and mentally, verify consent, administer pre-medication, and monitor vital signs before endoscopy.
• Provide high-quality care to patients recovering from anesthesia and ensure safety during recovery.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
• Use two patient identifiers per Center Policy and verify patient and procedure.
