Job summary

Optum in partnership with Allina Health is hiring this per diem position at United Hospital in Saint Paul, MN. As an Optum employee, you will support the Allina Health account, improving health outcomes by connecting patients with care, benefits, and resources.

The role focuses on patient registration and financial interactions, including collecting demographics, insurance details, co-pays, and explaining cost assistance programs.

Qualifications

• Minimum 6 months of customer service experience.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office products.
• Able to work standard daytime hours, Mon-Fri for the first 3 weeks after hire.
• Ability to work on a per diem basis.
• Must be 18 years of age or older.

Responsibilities

• Greets and welcomes patients in person and directs them to appointments.
• Collects and verifies demographic, insurance, and benefits information.
• Checks in and completes required paperwork including financial assistance requests.
• Obtains and explains cost information, collects co-pays and deductibles.
• Addresses claim issues and documents resolutions in the EMR.
• Uses resources to complete registration for accounts and work queues.
• Provides customer service for inbound and outbound calls.
• Assists in scheduling add-on appointments as needed.
• May mentor staff and gather medical record information as needed.
• Other duties supporting the healthcare environment with flexibility.
