Job summary

Baystate Health seeks a patient care technician to support registered nurses in pediatric and general units. The role involves direct patient care, hygiene, mobility, monitoring, and operating bedside equipment. You will collaborate with RNs and perform various procedures within unit policies.

Key responsibilities include monitoring vitals, assisting with wound care and dressings, and providing post-mortem care as directed. Prior CNA/PCT training is preferred; strong English skills are required.

Qualifications

• Proficient in reading and writing in English.

Responsibilities

• Provides age-appropriate care to patients.
• Monitors basic physiological parameters and records vital signs.
• Administers treatments and procedures per policy.
• Assists patients with elimination of body wastes and specimens.
• Performs Point of Care testing when applicable.
• Assists in delivery of ancillary services and follows treatment plans.
• Communicates effectively with team and patients.
• Initiates emergency procedures when needed.
• Functions as a member of the team and supports non-clinical activities.
• Completes clinical recognition program for career ladder level.
• Demonstrates competency for one-to-one observation of patients and EKG.
• Demonstrates competency in performing EKG per unit needs.
