Job summary

Baystate Health seeks a Patient Care Tech (PCT) to assist Registered Nurses with direct patient care, hygiene, mobility, and monitoring on the unit. The role includes multi-skill duties for phlebotomy and EKGs, equipment management, and assistance in procedures.

The incumbent will support age-appropriate care, document vitals, and follow treatment plans while maintaining safety and effective communication with the team and patients.

Qualifications

• GED or HiSET is required.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association.
• Certified Nurse Aide (CNA) certification.

Responsibilities

• Provide age-appropriate patient care and monitor physiology.
• Record vital signs and track weights, heights, and circumferences.
• Assist with treatments, dressing changes, and post-mortem care per policy.
• Assist with elimination needs and specimen collection with timely labeling.
• Perform Point of Care testing and support ancillary services.
• Follow treatment plans and document treatments and activities.
• Communicate effectively with the team and patients, respecting cultural needs.
• Initiate emergency procedures and maintain patient safety.
• Collaborate with team members on clinical and non-clinical tasks.
• Complete clinical recognition programs for career ladder.
• Demonstrate competency for one-to-one patient observation as required.
