Job summary

Baystate Health is seeking a Patient Care Technician to provide direct patient care, hygiene, mobility support, and monitoring under RN supervision. The role includes multi-skilled duties on the unit, phlebotomy and EKG support, equipment management, and assisting with procedures as needed.

Responsibilities cover infection control, accurate documentation, and collaboration with the nursing team. Requires GED/HiSET and BLS certification, with at least one year of patient care experience.

Qualifications

• Proficient reading and writing in English.
• Ability to maintain composure in medium/high-stress situations.

Responsibilities

• Provide age-appropriate patient care.
• Monitor vital signs and document measurements.
• Assist with treatments and procedures per policy.
• Assist with elimination needs and specimen handling.
• Perform Point of Care (POC) testing.
• Support ancillary services and follow treatment plans.
• Communicate effectively with the team and patients.
• Respond to emergencies and ensure patient safety.
• Collaborate with team members and complete non-clinical tasks as needed.
• Maintain competency through career ladder programs.
• Observe patients one-to-one as department requires.
