Job summary

Baystate Health is seeking a Patient Care Technician (PCT) to support Registered Nurses on the unit. The PCT will perform bedside tasks, hygiene, mobility, and monitoring, and will assist with phlebotomy and EKGs as needed.

Requirements include GED/HiSET and BLS; CNA certification is preferred. The role emphasizes teamwork, safety, and precise documentation to ensure quality patient care.

Qualifications

• At least one year of patient care experience.
• GED or HiSET is required.
• Proficient reading and writing in English.
• Ability to maintain composure in medium to high-stress situations.
• Excellent communication skills with patients and team members.

Responsibilities

• Provide age-appropriate patient care and monitor vital signs.
• Document weights/heights and other measurements accurately.
• Assist with dressing changes and basic treatments per policy.
• Support hygiene, mobility, and elimination needs.
• Perform Point of Care testing as directed.
• Assist with ancillary services and treatment plans.
• Communicate clearly with the team and patients, respecting diverse needs.
• React appropriately to emergencies and maintain patient safety.
• Support team members with clinical and non-clinical tasks.
• Complete required clinical recognition and observation competencies.
