Job summary

RWJBarnabas Health is seeking a Per Diem OR Technician to join a highly collaborative perioperative team. You will prepare operating rooms, support surgeons and perioperative nurses, and help ensure safe, efficient, high-quality surgical care.

The role emphasizes precision, patient-centered care, teamwork, and adherence to infection control and sterilization standards. A CST credential is required, with BLS preferred, and on-site operating room duties in New Jersey.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or Equivalent required.
• Certified Surgical Technician (CST) credential required.
• American Heart Association BLS certification preferred.
• Thorough knowledge of Infection Control, OSHA standards, and facility Policies & Procedures.
• Proficiency in monitoring and operating applicable medical equipment, including IFU for reprocessing and sterilization.

Responsibilities

• Prepare operating rooms in a timely and efficient manner with instruments, sutures, equipment, and sterile supplies.
• Clean and prepare rooms between procedures and after the last case of the day.
• Maintain an orderly sterile back table and follow aseptic technique throughout procedures.
• Collaborate with perioperative team to explain procedures and provide patient reassurance.
• Anticipate surgeon’s needs during intraoperative phase and adapt to changes.
• Assist in positioning, prepping, and draping patients for surgery.
• Complete surgical counts accurately per facility protocol.
• Handle and transport surgical instruments to decontamination; ensure clean reprocessing.
