Job summary

RWJBarnabas Health is seeking a Surgical Technician to join the operating room team on site. You will prepare the OR, set up instruments, assist surgeons and perioperative nurses, and help ensure sterile technique and patient safety throughout procedures.

This role requires completion of an accredited Surgical Technology program and current CST certification; BLS is mandatory. You will work in a fast-paced environment, collaborating with nurses and physicians to deliver high-quality patient care.

Qualifications

• Completed an accredited Surgical Technology program.
• Current CST credential (NBSTSA or equivalent).
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is required.

Responsibilities

• Prepare operating rooms by organizing instruments, equipment, and sterile supplies for procedures.
• Collaborate with perioperative staff to provide age-appropriate patient care throughout surgery.
• Maintain sterile technique and infection prevention to promote safe outcomes.
• Anticipate surgeon's instrument needs and assist during procedures with precision.
• Support turnover and readiness of surgical equipment between cases.
• Participate in departmental education and quality improvement initiatives.
