Job summary

NYU Langone Hospital—Suffolk is seeking an Operating Room Technician - Per Diem to join our OR team. Under RN supervision, you will plan and deliver safe, age-appropriate care and provide the surgical team with instruments, sutures, and equipment needed for procedures, while maintaining strict aseptic technique.

You will circulate and prepare supplies, participate in unit quality initiatives, and support the team throughout the perioperative process, ensuring clear communication and patient

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• 1–2 years operating room experience preferred.
• Graduate of accredited Surgical Technologist program.
• Certification exam must be taken and passed within 12 months of completion of program.
• Current and valid Basic Life Support (BLS) through AHA.
• Effective communication, critical thinking, problem solving, detail orientation, interpersonal, and customer service skills.
• Basic computer skills.
• Ability to work efficiently and cope with emergency situations.

Responsibilities

• Adheres to regulatory guidelines and policies regarding safety standards, infection control, and equipment handling.
• Takes corrective actions when counts are off and provides equipment and supplies as needed.
• Performs other assigned duties as required.
• Observes patient status and reports findings to the RN.
• Addresses patient concerns per the established communication hierarchy.
• Participates in updating care plans during the perioperative period.
