Job summary

NYU Langone Hospital—Suffolk is seeking an Operating Room Technician for Ambulatory Surgery. Under RN supervision, you will provide instruments and supplies, maintain asepsis, circulate, and assist the surgical team during procedures.

You will support perioperative planning, monitor patient status, and communicate with the care team to ensure safe, efficient care in a busy ASC setting in Suffolk.

Qualifications

• > High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• "> 1-2 years operating room experience preferred.
• "> Graduate of accredited Surgical Technologist program.
• "> Certification exam must be taken and passed within 12 months of program completion.
• "> Current and valid Basic Life Support (BLS) through AHA.
• "> Effective communication, critical thinking, problem solving, detail orientation, interpersonal, and customer service skills.
• "> Basic computer skills.

Responsibilities

• Adheres to regulatory guidelines and institutional policies regarding safety standards, infection control, and equipment handling.
• - Takes corrective actions when discrepancies in counts are identified; provides equipment and supplies based on patient needs.
• - Performs other assigned duties as required.
• - Observes the patient's clinical status and reports findings to the RN; addresses patient concerns per escalation policy.
• - Reviews plan of care during perioperative period and adjusts under RN direction.
• - Supplies the surgical team with instruments and supplies while maintaining aseptic technique.
• - Participates in unit-based quality improvement initiatives and staff education.
