Job summary

RWJBarnabas Health is hiring a Nursing Assistant for the Post Intensive Care Unit-II, per diem, with evening shifts at RWJ Rahway. The NA will provide basic patient care under RN supervision, monitor vitals, perform EKGs, draw labs, and support daily patient needs in a fast-paced hospital setting.

Candidates should have a High School Diploma or GED and a current AHA BLS certification. CNA program completion or prior NA experience is preferred; nights 11:00 PM–7:00 AM, every other weekend, with

As a Nursing Assistant, you will provide basic, direct patient care, considering specific needs as related to patients' age. Assumes responsibility for care of patients and functions as a member of the health care team, taking direction and guidance from a Registered Nurse. All care is provided in compliance with and according to department policy/procedure and Standards of Care.

As a Nursing Assistant (NA), a typical day may include:

• Monitoring vital signs such as heart rate and blood pressure
• Perform EKG's
• Draw labs and collect specimens from patients
• Provide therapeutic groups and recreational activities to patients
• Assist in nonviolent crisis intervention
• Promotes and implements, in conjunction with RN the concept of patient and family-centered care
• Observes and reports patient's responses to intervention/treatments
• Prepare the patient's environment for admission or transfer from another area of hospital
• Greet and escort newly admitted patients and families to patient room and orients them to their surroundings.
• Assures that all patients always have appropriate identification bands on
• Prepares the patient for meals, assists in feeding and/or feeds the patient, and reports food intake to the RN.

To be considered for this Nursing Assistant opportunity, you must have a High School Diploma / GED and a current American Heart Association BLS certification. Previous Nursing Assistant experience and/or successful completion of two Registered Nurse accredited clinical courses and/or completion of a Certified Nursing Assistant program is preferred. Scheduling Requirements: Nights 11:00PM - 7:00AM. Every other weekend required, the schedule during the week will vary depending on department needs. Mandatory Orientation
