Job summary

Mercy Fitzgerald Hospital is seeking a Part-time Medical Technologist to join the laboratory team. The schedule is Per Diem with Day Shift, and every other weekend required, providing essential diagnostic testing across chemistry, hematology, blood bank and microbiology.

The Medical Technologist performs standard lab procedures, maintains quality, and works independently in assigned areas while supporting education and daily operations.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of QC, protocols and procedures; bring exceptions to manager.
• Assists in troubleshooting and maintenance; documents actions.
• Performs analytical testing with independent judgment as appropriate.
• Shares and demonstrates technical skills with students, technologists, and technicians.
• Participates in continuing education, competencies, and in-services.

Responsibilities

• Conduct diagnostic laboratory tests to aid in diagnosis and treatment.
• Perform tests with microscopes, analyzers and computer equipment.
• Prioritize work and adhere to STAT requirements; call critical results.
• Prepare solutions and reagents; monitor temperatures and calibrations.
• Assist with instrument evaluations and inventory management.
