Job summary

Mercy Fitzgerald Hospital, a member of Trinity Health, is seeking a part-time Medical Technologist to join our team. Schedule: 24 hours per week, evening shift, every other weekend.

A Medical Technologist conducts diagnostic laboratory tests across Chemistry, Hematology, Blood Bank and Microbiology, maintaining QC, assisting with instrument evaluations, and ensuring timely turnaround of results to support patient care.

Qualifications

• Sufficient knowledge of QC, protocol and procedures.
• Assists in problem solving, troubleshooting and maintenance.
• Performs analytical testing with independence as appropriate.
• Shares and demonstrates technical skills with staff and students.
• Participates in continuing education and competency activities.
• Follows specimen labeling and patient identification policies.

Responsibilities

• Performs diagnostic laboratory tests across chemistry, hematology, blood bank and microbiology.
• Maintains QC and adheres to turnaround-time expectations.
• Assists in instrument evaluation and maintenance.
• Communicates results and issues to supervisors and staff.
• Supports inventory and reagent management.
