Job summary

Boston Children’s Hospital is seeking a Per Diem Laboratory Technician to perform a variety of moderate to highly complex diagnostic testing across multiple lab sections. The role involves evaluating abnormal results, maintaining equipment, documenting findings, and contributing to ongoing education and process improvements.

The position floats between Boston and Needham campuses, offering exposure to diverse clinical assays and collaboration with physicians and clinical teams.

Qualifications

• Associate's Degree in Medical Technology/Medical Laboratory Science required.
• Bachelor's Degree and successful completion of an ASCP/NAACLS accredited Medical Technology/Medical Laboratory Science program preferred.

Responsibilities

• Perform a variety of moderate and highly complex diagnostic laboratory testing under general supervision.
• May perform specialized procedures in lab sections unique to each discipline.
• Evaluate results for abnormal/critical findings and take appropriate action.
• Record results with all supporting documentation for clinical interpretation.
• Perform quality control, maintenance, calibration, and troubleshooting of equipment.
• Participate in continuing education and training to expand knowledge scope.
• Provide guidance to less experienced laboratory personnel.
• Communicate principle/theory to physicians and staff.
• Ensure accurate results by adhering to good lab practices.
• Undertake special projects and additional duties as needed.
