Job summary

Boston Children’s Hospital is seeking a Laboratory Technician to perform a range of diagnostic tests and specialized procedures under supervision. You will ensure quality results and communicate their relevance to health care teams in Boston and Needham.

The role requires an Associate’s Degree in Medical Technology/MLS (Bachelor’s with ASCP/NAACLS preferred). Experience in clinical labs is valued and a National certification is preferred.

Qualifications

• Associate’s Degree in Medical Technology/Medical Laboratory Science program required.
• Bachelor’s Degree with ASCP/NAACLS accredited program preferred.
• 2 years clinical lab experience with Associate degree, or no experience with Bachelor’s degree.
• 3 years of Clinical Lab Science experience preferred.
• National certification preferred.

Responsibilities

• Perform a variety of moderate and highly complex diagnostic laboratory testing under general supervision.
• May perform specialized procedures in special laboratory sections.
• Evaluate results for abnormal/critical values and act per guidelines.
• Document results with supporting documentation for clinical interpretation.
• Perform quality control, maintenance, calibration, and troubleshooting of equipment.
• Participate in continuing education and train less experienced staff.
• Communicate principles to physicians and staff; ensure good lab practices.
