Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent is required.
• Graduate of an accredited medical assisting program is preferred, but not required.
• CPR certification through the American Heart Association is required.
• Medical Assistant Certification (AMT, AAMA, ARMA, CCMA, CMA, MAC, AMCA) is preferred, but not required.
• One year of work experience in a medical office (or related field) is preferred; on-the-job training is provided for those without MA training/experience.

Responsibilities

• Answer phones and greet patients.
• Schedule patient appointments.
• Collect co-payments.
• Complete patient registration and check-in/out.
• Provide front-office and administrative support to the physician practice.
• Verify insurances.
• Document vitals, allergies, medications, and reason for visit.
• Perform basic vitals (BP, height, weight).
• Phlebotomy and injections may be required.
