Job summary

RWJBarnabas Health is seeking a Per Diem Histology Technician to support the Anatomic Pathology lab. The role focuses on embedding, sectioning, routine H&E staining, frozen sections, and immunohistochemical staining while upholding strict accuracy in patient identification and labeling.

The position requires a high school diploma or equivalent, prior histology experience, and flexibility for early morning hours. A Bachelor’s degree is preferred and HT/HTL certification is highly regarded.

Qualifications

• Must have high school diploma or equivalent.
• Previous experience as Histology Technician required.
• HT/HTL certification preferred or in progress.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and process tissue specimens for review by pathologists.
• Embed, section, and perform H&E staining.
• Produce frozen sections and immunohistochemical staining as directed.
• Maintain accuracy in specimen identification and labeling.
• Follow safety procedures and regulatory requirements.
• Collaborate with pathologists and laboratory staff to ensure quality diagnostics.
