Job summary

Garden State Treatment Center is seeking a Per Diem Gambling Disorder Counselor to lead outpatient groups for adults with gambling disorder. The role requires experience with problem gambling and co-occurring conditions, and collaboration with a multidisciplinary team.

The ideal candidate will facilitate engaging, recovery‑oriented groups, address gambling triggers and cognitive distortions, and maintain thorough clinical documentation while upholding confidentiality and professional standards.

Qualifications

• Experience treating gambling disorder or problem gambling required.
• Experience facilitating therapeutic or psychoeducational groups for gambling-related concerns preferred.
• Demonstrated knowledge of gambling-specific clinical issues (triggers, urges, cognitive distortions, relapse patterns).
• Maintain necessary licenses or credentials for assigned responsibilities.

Responsibilities

• Facilitate clinically appropriate group therapy for gambling disorder in outpatient settings.
• Deliver psychoeducational and process-oriented groups focusing on relapse prevention and coping skills.
• Identify gambling triggers, urges, distortions, and high-risk situations in clients.
• Address financial consequences and family impact within treatment planning.
• Collaborate with Clinical Director and treatment team; complete documentation timely.
• Maintain confidentiality per HIPAA and 42 CFR Part 2 as applicable.
