Job summary

Long Island Treatment Center is seeking a compassionate Part-Time Counselor/Group Facilitator to join our outpatient team in Hicksville, NY. The role blends group facilitation with individual counseling for adults with substance use disorders and problem gambling.

The schedule features in-person group hours Tue and Fri mornings, plus remote individual sessions with flexible evening times. A consistent 15-hour-per-week commitment supports ongoing recovery-oriented care.

Qualifications

• Current New York State CASAC credential, or CASAC with willingness to complete problem gambling coursework toward CASAC-G.
• Minimum of two years in substance use disorder, problem gambling, behavioral health, or related setting.
• Experience facilitating psychoeducational and process-oriented groups.
• Strong clinical, interpersonal, communication, and documentation skills.
• Ability to manage an individual caseload and complete documentation on time.

Responsibilities

• Facilitate three recurring therapy groups weekly, including one problem gambling group and two substance use groups.
• Deliver psychoeducational, process-oriented, relapse prevention, and skills-based group sessions.
• Maintain an individual caseload of about 8–10 clients.
• Provide remote individual counseling aligned with treatment goals.
• Complete assessments, treatment plans, progress notes, and discharge planning.
• Create a welcoming, respectful therapeutic environment using evidence-based methods.
• Monitor participation, progress, risk factors, and barriers to treatment.
• Collaborate with Clinical Director and treatment team to coordinate care.
• Document group and individual sessions accurately in the EMR within required timeframes.
• Adhere to OASAS, Joint Commission, and confidentiality requirements.
