Job summary

Long Island Treatment Center in Hicksville, NY seeks a compassionate Part-Time Counselor/Group Facilitator to join our outpatient team, blending group sessions with individual counseling for adults with substance use disorders and problem gambling.

This 15-hour-per-week role includes in-person group hours on Tue 9:00–12:00 and Fri 9:00–12:00, plus remote individual sessions and documentation time within a recovery-oriented, evidence-based framework.

Qualifications

• Current NYS CASAC-G credential or CASAC with willingness to complete problem gambling coursework toward CASAC-G.
• Minimum of two years of experience in SUD, problem gambling, behavioral health, or related setting.
• Experience facilitating psychoeducational and process-oriented therapy groups.
• Strong clinical, interpersonal, communication, and documentation skills.
• Ability to manage an individual caseload and complete documentation within required timeframes.
• Familiarity with 12-Step and other recovery support approaches.

Responsibilities

• Facilitate three recurring therapy groups each week, including one problem gambling-focused group and two substance use disorder‑focused groups.
• Provide remote individual counseling that supports each client’s treatment and recovery goals.
• Complete assessments, treatment plans, progress notes, discharge planning, and other required clinical documentation.
• Maintain a welcoming, respectful, and clinically appropriate therapeutic environment.
• Use evidence-based interventions while adapting services to meet clients’ needs and readiness for change.
• Monitor client participation, progress, risk factors, and barriers to treatment.
• Collaborate with the Clinical Director and multidisciplinary team to coordinate care and outcomes.
• Complete group and individual documentation accurately in the EMR within required timeframes.
• Maintain compliance with OASAS, Joint Commission, ethical, and confidentiality standards.
• Participate in supervision, staff meetings, and ongoing professional development.
