Job summary

VEG ER for Pets in Des Moines, IA seeks a per diem Emergency Credentialed Veterinary Technician to join the ER team on the front lines. You will manage triage, treatments, diagnostics, anesthesia, monitoring, and critical care nursing while supporting pet parents in stressful moments.

You will work nights, weekends, and holidays as needed, with opportunities for mentorship and skill growth in a fast-paced, open-concept hospital environment.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required; associate degree preferred.
• Credentialed as a veterinary technician (CVT, RVT, LVT, LVMT) in the state where the VEG practice is located.
• 1+ years of experience in a veterinary technician role; emergency or specialty medicine preferred.
• Basic computer skills and familiarity with practice management software and EMR.
• Excellent communicator and calm under pressure; able to support teammates.

Responsibilities

• Triage, treatments, diagnostics, anesthesia, monitoring, and critical care nursing.
• Provide nursing care and emotional support to patients and pet parents.
• Handle medications, IVs/CRIs, blood products, and monitoring equipment.
• Collaborate with doctors and team to plan and maintain care flow.
• Perform advanced techniques and imaging as needed.
• Assist with CPR and emergency procedures as part of the ER team.
