Job summary

Charleston Area Medical Center's MedBASE Communications Center seeks a Per Diem Communication Specialist Paramedic to manage medical command requests for region 3/4, dispatch Aeromedical and CAMC inpatient transporters, and coordinate patient movement into and out of CAMC.

The role requires strong communication skills, knowledge of EMS protocols, and the ability to relay critical information clearly to EMS personnel, hospitals, and air medical teams.

Qualifications

• Experience in medical command and EMS dispatch operations.
• Ability to interpret patient care orders and coordinate transport.
• Familiarity with FCC regulations and medical transmission protocols.
• Proven competency in communication during emergencies.
• Capacity to document and maintain MEDBASE records.

Responsibilities

• Operate the MEDBASE Communications Center.
• Relay verbal communications to patient care representatives.
• Coordinate aeromedical transports and LZ locations.
• Ensure accurate flight following and landing zone arrangements.
• Communicate receiving facilities per protocol.
• Maintain forms, documentation, and the MEDBASE database.
• Coordinate EMS Region III/IV medical protocols.
• Arrange ambulance transport for CAMC patients.
