Job summary

Northwell Health is seeking an Emergency Medical Dispatcher to answer requests for ambulance services and enter them into the system using MPDS/ProQA guidelines. The role involves prioritizing calls, coordinating resources, and maintaining accurate ambulance records.

The position requires a NYS EMT certification, AHA CPR certification, and 1–3 years of technical experience. High school diploma or equivalent is required.

Responsibilities

• Answer requests for emergency medical service utilizing MPDS cards / ProQA for proper prioritization and pre-arrival instructions; adheres to guidelines.
• Works on routine and transactional assignments, guided by policies, procedures, guidelines and precedent.
• Exercises independent judgment on basic or moderately complex issues regarding job and related tasks.
• Responds to and coordinates with posted units following the Deployment Monitor in an expedient manner.
• Follows dispatch orders adhering to approved policies and procedures.
• Maintains accurate records for ambulances.
• Elevates questions, problems and significant challenges to more senior team members for direction or subject matter expertise on new or unprecedented assignments.
• Handles and coordinates scheduled transports in a timely manner.
• Clarifies policies or procedures, and any other matters that may occur, as appropriate.
• Participates in all required safety and back-up drills.
