Job summary

PeaceHealth is seeking a Patient Access Representative for the Emergency Department in a Per Diem/Relief, Variable role. Salary ranges from $22.96 to $30.91 per hour, with compensation dependent on education, experience and union terms.

The role includes pre-registration, insurance verification, and coordinating with scheduling and pre-certification. Excellent customer service and time management are essential, with potential minor patient transport duties and support across the department.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of Medical Terminology and CPT/ICD-10 coding (Preferred).
• Knowledge of insurance process and regulations (Preferred).
• Must manage conflict effectively and professionally (Required).
• Excellent time management with deadlines (Required).
• Good customer service and interpersonal skills (Required).

Responsibilities

• Pre-registers/registers patients with accurate demographic and financial data; may use mobile cart.
• Collects patient balances, co-payments, co-insurance, or other payment types.
• Verifies coverage and ensures insurance requirements are met; obtain prior authorizations/referrals as appropriate.
• Responds to customer inquiries.
• Assists with departmental coverage as needed.
• Manages daily appointment schedules including reminder calls and referrals.
• May transport patients using escort or wheeled transport equipment.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
