Job summary

Catholic Charities Family and Community Services (CCFCS) is hiring a per diem/relief Direct Support Professional II to support individuals with intellectual/developmental disabilities in a residential setting. You will promote independence, provide hands-on assistance, and collaborate with a trauma-informed care team.

Requirements include a High School Diploma (or equivalent), NY Driver’s License, and AMAP Certification. Prior relevant experience is preferred.

Qualifications

• Education: High School Diploma or Equivalent preferred.
• Credentials: NY State Driver’s License and AMAP Certification required for DSP II.
• Experience: At least one year working with individuals with developmental disabilities preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide person centered support to all individuals served, recognizing learning needs and preferred style.
• Provide direct personal assistance in instances when an individual requires hands-on supports.
• Assist individuals in supporting their health and wellness needs.
• Schedule and accompany individuals to medical appointments and document pertinent information.
• Assist with meal planning, menu planning, and food shopping.
• Engage in effective communication with individuals.
• Provide and report incidents and medical emergencies according to policy.
• Assist individuals with managing finances and safeguarding funds.
• Maintain a clean, safe, and orderly living environment.
• Communicate pertinent information between shifts and with supervisor.
• Attend staff meetings and pursue professional development.
